Card Applications
How and where can I apply for an ISIC or Youth Travel Card?
You can apply for an ISIC or Youth Travel Card;

If you apply for your card in person, you should generally be able to receive your card immediately.
For applications made by post or via the Internet, it may take 1-2 days to process your application and deliver your card.

What documentation do I need to get an international identity card?
ISIC - International Student Identity Card
The ISIC is especially for full-time students. To be eligible for an ISIC, you must be able to prove you are currently studying full-time at a recognised educational establishment. The minimum age to get an ISIC is 12 years and there is no upper age limit. However, some discount providers include age restrictions in their offer.
Acceptable proof of full-time student status includes either;
- A copy of your university or student I.D. card, if properly dated and clearly indicating your full-time student or scholar status; or
- A signed and dated letter on official university or school stationery attesting to your full-time student or scholar status. An original copy is preferred, but photocopies and faxes may be accepted.
You will also need a passport sized photo and proof of your date of birth. There is a fee for the
IYTC - International Youth Travel Card
The International Youth Travel Card is especially for persons 26 years of age or younger.
To get an International Youth Travel Card you must be able to prove your age. Acceptable proof of age includes a copy of any one of the following:
- Your passport
- Your birth certificate
- An official identity card issued by law enforcement authorities

How much does an international identity card cost?
International Student Identity Card cost is 6 USD
International Youth Travel Card cost is 8 USD

Eligibility
I am not a student yet, but will be enrolled soon - am I eligible for an ISIC?
The ISIC is especially for full-time students.
To qualify for the ISIC, you must be currently enrolled in full-time studies at a recognised institution and be at least 12 years old. If you are not a full-time student but are under 26 years old, you will qualify for the International Youth Travel Card. Like the ISIC, this card also offers thousands of worldwide discounts and benefits.

Card Validity
How long is the ISIC/ Youth Travel Card valid for?
ISIC - International Student Identity Card

The ISIC is valid for a maximum of 16 months.
IYTC - International Youth Travel Card
The International Youth Travel Card is valid for one year from the day it is issued.

The ISIC and Youth Travel Card all provide a wide range of discounts and special offers on flights, ferries, rental cars, public transport, accommodation, restaurants, shops, museums and cultural attractions.
The number of discounts vary from country to country, but you’re sure to make substantial savings in your own country and when travelling abroad with your card.

Work and Study Abroad
Where can I find information on work abroad or volunteer programmes?
Work Abroad Programmes

New Choice (NGO) administers programmes that allow students and young people to work in Mongolia for short periods of time.
Volunteer Programmes
New Choice co-ordinate 2-3 week volunteer work camps, mostly in the summer months. These work camps are available worldwide and offer a great way to see a country from a different perspective.
